A Little about Ms. Serio • Secondary Education (Mathematics) at ASU • I live with my boyfriend of 4 years and my two amazing pups. • I am an Arizona native and grew up in Kyrene. • This will be my first official year of teaching. • Student taught here at Aprende. • Excited and eager to spread my love for math with all my students this year
Curriculum is based on real-life, math-related scenarios • Text is organized to be implemented as whole class, individual and small group learning • The MATHia software is ideal for extended learning and intervention. • We will utilize MATHia regularly in class, but each student is also expected to work on it outside of class. Certain modules will be due at the end of each quarter.
Classroom Norms: • All students are expected to be in their class on time, ready to learn every day. • Students must have all of their supplies with them every day. • Students will have homework every night, either an assignment or 20 minutes of MATHia. Students should write daily assignments in their planner. Parents please make sure students are writing assignments and due dates down regularly to keep on top of their assignments. • Discipline • Refocus warning • In-class relocation • Timeout in ISI room (In School Intervention) • Parent contact/meeting • Office referral
Aprende’s Common Math Expectations • All work must be completed in pencil, no erasable pen • Rewrite the original problem • Show all work, every step, going down the paper (vertically) • If you are not sure how to complete a homework problem, ask someone for help.
