Orders posts into subject categories • Readers can simply click on subject in Categories widget in sidebar to read all posts under that topic.
Moretonhampstead Hub created as part of talk about local earlier this year - ‘a new space for Moretonians to express themselves and for ideas and knowledge to be shared.’
Uses ‘tags’ as well as ‘categories’ to sort posts. • Makes more specific information easier to find, e.g. rather than trawling through posts in the ‘Arts’ category for sculpture, a search for ‘sculpture‘ will bring up tagged posts.
Log into your Wordpress website and edit a previously published post. • Categorise the post (add a new category if you do not have any) • Add tags to your post • Update!
Go to ‘Appearance’ then ‘Widgets’ • Drag the ‘Categories’ widget to your sidebar • In the drop-down Categories box in the sidebar, give it the title ‘Categories and select the ‘Show heirarchy’ option. Press ‘Save’ and ‘Close’. • This will give your website a side menu of Categories
Other useful widgets for your sidebar • ‘Comments‘ - brings discussion on the website to the forefront. • ‘Tag Cloud‘ - Shows your most-used post tags in an attractive, ‘cloud‘ format so readers can click to read posts about popular subjects. • ‘Blog Subscriptions‘ - allows readers to subscribe to receive email updates from your website. • William Perrin TAL
