  3. PHI THETA KAPPA • Phi Theta Kappa is the officialInternational Honor Society for two-year colleges. • Incorporated in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is now the largest honor society in American higher education. • It has more than • 2 million members • 1,200 chapters NOT a fraternity/sorority

BETA IOTA RHO • Beta Iota Rhois the local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Luzerne County Community College, chartered on December 12, 2000. • We are a 5-STAR chapter • We are a TOP 100 chapter • We earned a HALLMARK AWARD for our HIAP • President Leary: SHIRLEY GORDON award • Dr. Housenick: PARAGON ADVISOR award

  6. REQUIREMENTS • A student must: • have a GPA of 3.5 or better • be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours at LCCC during Fall or Spring Semesters • have completed 12 hours or more of transfer-level courses Membership is Invitation Only

  7. BENEFITS • As members of Phi Theta Kappa, students receive: • Eligibility for scholarships • including completion scholarships to assist finishing associate’s degree • & many excellent transfer scholarshipsto four-year universities over $37 million each year

  10. FEES • $65 • 1-time only fee • no further monetary obligations • $55 to PTK • $5 to region • $5 to chapter

LEVEL of INVOLVEMENT • Still, Service & Fellowship are 2 of our 4 Hallmarks, so we welcome your contributions. • Bake something for a bake sale. • Sell wrist bands for our Relay for Life team. • Donate books or clothes to one of our drives. • Share great ideas for great club activities. • Communicate with members electronically.
