  3. Key revelations • “Forget about OpenMPI running across machines. Use OpenMP. Interpreters now have desktop machines with 8-64 cores” (ExxonMobil IT folks, Aug. 2013) • “C++ and python will be able to handle the “\” vs. “/” . The root directory (C: vs. “/” ) is more problematic. A “config” file should handle it”. (ExxonMobil IT folks, Aug. 2013) • “Send me the code. I’ve got some smart guys who should be able to make it work.” (Eric Keyser, Encana, Sept. 2013). • “Going smooth except for the shell scripts. Spend the money and use Intel’s Fortran2005 compiler”. (Terry Perkins – for Encana, Oct., 2013). • “Forget about “installing”. Package it up as a tree and copy it whole to the A, B, or C drive” (Terry Perkins – for Encana, Nov., 2013).

  4. Next steps Rewrite remaining GUIs, python scripts, and Fortran i/o interfaces. Test. Release last Linux only “Bourne Shell script version”, November 25, 2013. Replace all Bourne Shell scripts with equivalent python scripts inside GUIs (2 letters per application “sh” to “py” Test…test…test… on both Linux and Windows Release post-stack attribute code December 2013 Release all other applications January 2013.
