Upgrading from 9.0.0 to 9.0.1 Lawson Professional Services Mark Deutsch Lawson Professional Services Mark.deutsch@us.lawson.com
Agenda • What is LSF 9.0.1? • Why should we upgrade to LSF 9.0.1? • How do I get there • Technical Requirements • Upgrade Paths • Upgrade Process • Considerations • Questions
What is Lawson S3 9.0.1? • Latest release of the LSF 9 technology • Progression of LSF9 platform including Websphere/ADAM/Tivoli Directory Services • First Lawson 64 bit architecture on Unix and Windows hardware • Latest release of the Lawson S3 Applications
Why should we upgrade to LSF 9.0.1? • Supports 9.0.1 Apps • Required for Smart Office and Enterprise Search • 64 bit support for most platforms (HP RISC is 32bit) • Will be required for new applications moving forward • Most current release
Important Dates - iSeries Fw Outstanding Invoices for PO# 532925 - Crystal Reports and LBI consulting for consultant Chris Martin
How do I get there? • Plan ahead • Create a list of your current product versions • Review release notes and install guides • Review “Lawson Product Availability & Compatibility” • Think about cut over process • Technical Planning Session • Determine requirements of LSF 9.0.1 • Determine requirements of 9.0.1 Apps • Determine compatibility with ancillary products • Create project plan • Determine scope • Technical Upgrade, the Application Upgrade • Upgrade Technical and Application at same time
Platform Support for 9.0.1.x as of June ‘09 Note: Supporting applications might not support these OS releases
Operating Systems AIX 5.3/6.1 HP UX (Integrity Server) 11i v2/v3 HP UX (PA_RISC Server) 11i v2 (11.23) SUN 10 Windows 2003 R2 x86 & x64 Database Versions Oracle 10gR2 / 11g DB2 9.1 / 9.5 SQL2005/SQL2008 J2EE Application Server IBM WebSphere ND6.1 / 7.0 Additional Software Java 1.5+ (required) PERL 5.8 Cobol compilers 5.0 + Micro Focus ServerExpress (UNIX) Micro Focus NetExpress (NT) WEB Servers IIS 6 WebSphere 6.1 / 7.0 C Compiler (ANCI C for the given OS version) Web Browsers IE 6.0 & IE 7.0 Lawson System Foundation 9.0.1 Requirements – Unix & Windows
Lawson 9 Compatibility – Unix/Windows Lawson Technology 9.0.1 Supports 9.0.0 and 9.0.1 Applications.
Upgrade Process – Applications • Using the Enterprise Applications Install Guide, install 9.0.1 applications on top of existing 9.0.0 applications. • The install guide provides instructions if upgrading from 9.0.0 applications. • The Data Promotion Programs require you to be at a minimum release level of 9.0.0 MSP4 prior to installing the 9.0.1 applications.
Considerations • Moving from LSF 9.0.0 is not like applying an ESP • Hardware and OS considerations need to be addressed • Determine fall back plan, recovery points • “Cyclical” happens over existing environment like past upgrades • No LSF9 environment copy steps available • Dependent products • Version of Lawson LDAP Provider • Version of Lawson WebSphere • Version of Relational Database • LID 9.0.1.4 (32 bit vs 16 bit) will not work with 8.0.3 technology • Are you on at least 9.0.0.x Apps? • Are you on the supported version of MSCM and LBI? • WebSphere releases similar for MSCM, LBI, LBP • Lawson Metadata • Does your organization bring forward Jobs Definitions, Print Files, Security, etc during upgrades? • Weighing resetup vs upgrading of information
Considerations • The Data Promotion Programs (DPP) are a “cyclical” • It is an in-place process • EDI moves from LOGAN to Application Product Line • Multiple testing configurations available • Time Accrual is supported in 9.0.1 applications • Review Application Release Notes for specific functional area changes
