  2. Definition “The movement of organisms from one place to another”

  3. Effect of migration Migration has a big effect on the increase and decrease of a population, and therefore it’s natality and mortality rate. Migration is separated into two parts; immigration and emigration. Immigration is when populations gain alleles when they are introduced from other gene pools. Emigration is when populations lose genes to other gene pools.

  4. Example: Bird migration is usually associated with the change of seasons. These changes affect the availability of food availability, habitat and weather. In relation to the gene pool, migration allows variation within the species. New genes are introduced to the gene pool and therefore creates diversity.
