Battle of Thermopylae • A famous battle in 480 BC; a Greek army under Leonidas was annihilated by the Persians who were trying to conquer Greece
Battle of Salamis • The Battle of Salamis was a naval battle fought between an Alliance of Greek city-states and the Persian Empire in September 480 B.C. in the waters near Athens.
Ancient Persia • Also called Persian Empire. An ancient empire located in west and south west Asia. At its height it extended from Egypt and the Aegean to India. It was conquered by Alexander the Great 334–331 B.C.
