  3. Two of us riding nowhere Two of us sending postcards Spending someone's Writing letters Hard earned pay On my wall You and me Sunday driving You and me burning matches Not arriving Lifting latches On our way back home On our way back home We're on our way home We're on our way home We're on our way home We're on our way home We're going home We're going home You and I have memories Longer than the road that stretches out ahead Two of us wearing raincoats Standing solo In the sun You and me chasing paper Getting nowhere On our way back home We're on our way home We're on our way home We're going home

  4. What do you think that PonyBoy and Johnny think about this song?

  5. There IS A POEM In the BOOK. Can you find it? It is written by Robert frost. Who is Robert Frost?

  6. Robert Frost was born March 26, 1874, in San Francisco, California, and grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts. His first poem was published while still in high school, but it wasn't until after moving with his wife and children to England in 1912 that he published his first book of poetry. Over time he became one of the most widely admired and highly honored American poets of the 20th century.

  7. So what is a line and a stanza? How many lines are in the poem? How many stanzas are there in the poem?

  8. Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsidesto leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.

  9. Ooooooooo…….a preview of the movie PonyBoy recites the poem from the movie

  10. How does this poem showhow Ponyboy feels he relates with his friends?

  11. What do you see in the poem and the book that is similar to your lives?

  12. LETS BRAINSTORM IDEAS FOR A POEM! Wait a minute. What exactly is a brainstorm?

  13. You can brainstorm by thinking of the questions! What kind of things do you want to say in your poem? What images do you want to use? What part of your life do you want to tell us about? Is is going to rhyme or not? Who are you going to compare or contrast? Is my poem organized in an eight line stanza format?

  14. A free write? A picture? A Venn Diagram? Some words? So now lets try a brainstorming activity!

  15. Now let’s talk about your poem and what the homework is.
