What we will learn today • Today we will practice what we learned before about how we can protect ourselves if our clothes, or someone else’s clothes, catch on fire.
We have already learned that: • If we get too close to fire or something that is very hot, our clothes could catch on fire. • Fire needs oxygen to survive, so when you take oxygen away from a fire, it goes out
Fire Triangle And when we remove any one side of the triangle, like taking away the oxygen, the fire cannot survive
What should you do if your clothes catch on fire? • Stop, drop and roll • Rolling over and over takes the oxygen away from the fire and the fire goes out
Never run • Stop - where you are
ROLL over and over, back and forth, with your hands covering your face, until the fire is out
If the fire is on your sleeves, put your arms down by your side and roll over and over, back and forth, until the fire is out
If someone else is on fire: • make sure they don’t run • use a blanket to smother the fire • put water on them to put out the fire
Remember - You can avoid being burned if you stay away from things that are hot and never playing with matches or lighters.
