Name and description • Lesser goldfinches are birds that are mostly yellow. The male bird has some black on their head and they have greenish brown backs. Females do not have black on their head like males have, and they are paler than and not as bright as the males. If any people wanted to know, lesser goldfinches are not man eating birds, so if you are going bird watching they will not eat you.
Diet • The lesser goldfinch eats weed seeds and thistle. If I were a lesser goldfinch, I would probably eat bagels instead. In the summer, lesser goldfinches eat some insects like aphids, which they use to feed their young.
Behavior • Lesser goldfinches often mimic other bird’s calls and sounds, so you might not hear their actual call. They often gather around cotton wood trees or oak trees when they are in a flock. • "BirdWeb." BirdWeb. Seattle Audubon, 1999. Web. 20 Apr. 2013.
