  2. What are the Common Pages? The Common Pages are pages that are found in all types of SAE Books regardless of the project type.

  3. What parts of the SAE book are included in the Common Pages? • Cover Page • Record of Supervision & Conferences (i to ii) • Planning Section (P-1 to P-4) • Summary Section (S-1 to S-4) • Leadership Section (L-1 to L-3) • Sometimes called the Activity Section

  4. Where do the Common Pages go in the SAE Book? First Cover Page Second Record of Supervision & Conferences Third Planning Section (P-1 to P-4) Fourth All Enterprise or Project Inserts Fifth Summary Section (S-1 to S-4) Sixth Leadership Section (L-1 to L-3)

  5. When should the various Common Pages be completed or updated? Cover Page • Completed January 1st or when the SAE Book is started. • Updated when a new/additional SAE project/enterprise is started.

  6. When should the various Common Pages be completed or updated? Record of Supervision & Conferences Updated by the teacher whenever : • the SAE Book is graded • an SAE visit is conducted • after conference/consultation regarding SAE project

  7. When should the various Common Pages be completed or updated? Planning PagesP-1andP-2 • Completed January 1st or when the SAE Book is started. • Updated or Changed when a student has a new occupational goal.

  8. When should the various Common Pages be completed or updated? Planning PagesP-3 • Completed January 1st or when the SAE Book is started. • Updated or Changed when enterprise scope changes or there are additional leadership goals.

  9. When should the various Common Pages be completed or updated? Planning PagesP-4 • Started when the SAE Book is started by student, parent, and teacher. • Updated- Quarterly or at times most appropriate for the particular school.

  10. When should the various Common Pages be completed or updated? Summary Pages S-1 • Started/Updatedat the beginning of the year or when a new enterprise is started. • Completed at the end of the year or once all enterprises are finished.

  11. When should the various Common Pages be completed or updated? Summary Pages S-2 to S-3 • Started - January 1st or when the SAE Book is started. • Completed -December 31st or when SAE project is 100% completed.

  13. When should the various Common Pages be completed or updated? Leadership Pages L-1 to L-3 • Started -- January 1st or when the SAE Book is started. • Updated - as various FFA and other leadership activities occur.

Electronic Version Pencil Version More Accurate and Neater Eliminates many (math) errors Easier to correct mistakes Can complete when student doesn’t completely understand Easier to continue the next year Print information or copies for advanced degrees/applications Prepares student to use technology in the workforce No computer skills needed No software/hardware computability problems.   15. The Year must be the same on the Cover and on P-3 The Cover 2004 Susan A.   17. Pages completed by the teacher during the year as the SAE Book is graded, SAE visits, conferences, and/or consultations are completed. Usually completed in pen by the teacher. Pages i and ii

  18. P-1 and P-2 Student Name should appear the same as on the cover. 1 Nurse 2 Rank your top two interest areas in which you are interested in finding employment. If not in agriculture specify the area or job title.

  19. P-1 & P-2 continued Select 2 occupations. Enter the first on P-1 and the second on P-2. The first occupation should agree with your occupational area selected on the top of P-1. Your second occupation may agree or also be in the first occupational area. Enter the information in complete sentences. Answer the prompts the best that you can for all of the questions on P-1 and P-2. Wildlife Conservation Officer had many experiences over the years in the outdoors with my family. These have included hunting, fishing, and camping. I have also gone canoeing with the Scouts and have taken many photos of birds during the past year. conduct a wildlife conservation project that will improve wildlife habitat on a plot of land near my home. This should improve my understanding of habitat needs of various species.

P-1 & P-2 continued The Education section should address the previous classes as well as present and future high school classes that the member will be taking that will help meet the occupational objectives. a number of science classes and an wildlife unit in my ninth grade agriculture class. an advanced biology class, plus an animal science class in my agricultural studies this year. Enroll in the environmental classes next year as part of my agricultural studies. I also plan to take a photo journalism class which should help with my SAE Wildlife project and develop some writing and photography skills.

  21. P-1 & P-2 continued The Other Education section should address both future plans and costs to meet your occupational choice. Remember even though your choice may not require a four year college degree, almost all will require update or on the job training. first enlisting in the U.S. Army and then enrolling in a four year college and majoring in an environmental science field with a minor in wildlife management. This should improve my civil service standing when I later apply for a job as a WCO. P- 2 follows the same format as P- 1. Your Second occupational choice should agree with the information entered on the top of P-1. by enlisting in the service the G.I. Bill will help cover the costs of a college education. The rest of the costs will need to be covered by loans or income received during internships or summer jobs and part-time employment. I should not need to purchase a large number of items for the job, but will need to provide transportation.

  23. P-3 Susan A. Student 2004 Scope for Conservation, Work Experience, Research, Improvement, and Skills and Tasks SAE projects will be listed in hours at the end of the year.   24. P-3 Susan A. Student Percent ownership must agree with the contract page of each SAE Enterprise (Page 1). Usually only applies to Entrepreneur SAE Enterprises. Work Experience SAE’s are usually listed as On-Farm or Off-Farm Work Experience.   25. P-3 I will be elected as the FFA chapter secretary during my senior year. Chapter secretary I will serve as a chairperson of a standing POA committee. I will participate in the county Public Speaking CDE. I will join the Key Club and serve as a volunteer where needed. I will get a high paying job upon graduation. I will apply for the Keystone Degree during my senior year. Leadership Goals must be in complete sentences, NOT phrases. Goals are to be leadership in nature, not just personal. Goals should be realistic for the future and not include past goals such as: “I will earn the Greenhand degree. Acceptable goals are in blue, unacceptable goals are in red.

  26. Susan A. Student The Self Evaluation page is designed to allow the student, parent, and teacher to evaluate the student on various Personality and Work Traits. The most value from this page will occur when all parties accurately complete the evaluation and discuss differences. The likelihood of total agreement is VERY small. The page allows for evaluation four different times during the year. Many agricultural departments will do the evaluations on a quarterly basis. Notice the S for student, P for parent and T for Teacher evaluation. P-4 1/21/xx SPT SPT SP T S PT ST P SPT

  27. S-1 Student Name and Enterprises should be transferred from the Cover and P-3. Make certain that you read the directions at the bottom of the page. This page is completed at the end of the year.

  29. S-1 Follow the directions for entering items in Column B. B. Student Share % from P-3 and/or agreement Page for each Enterprise. Multiply A x B to get the answer in Column C.

  30. S-1 Follow the directions to fine the number of hours for Column D. Divide column C by D to obtain the value in column E. This should agree with the entry on page 16 for entrepreneur and Work Experience SAE Books.

  31. S-2 & S-3 Started - January 1st or when the SAE Book is started. Completed -December 31st or when SAE project is 100% completed. Net Worth Statement S-2 Asset Page (Things you own of value.) S-3 Liability Page (Things you owe of value.)

  32. Enter the Student Name and the Beginning and Ending Dates. The Beginning Date will normally be January 1 and Ending Date December 31. The exceptions would be the first year for the beginning date, and the ending date for some applications that need an ending inventory value. S-2 Jan 1, 2xxx Dec 31, 2xxx

  33. Asset Page Contains Productive and Other Assets. The first part of the Productive Assets are Cash On-hand, Savings, and Checking Account Balance. You should be able to list these without any difficulty. S-2 Jan 1, 2xxx Dec 31, 2xxx $204.25 $157.81 $500 US Savings Bond $378.42 20 shares of XTM Stock $660.00 The third item includes the CASH Value of Bonds, Stocks, and Notes receivable. (Most be listed) Remember the Cash Value of a savings bond is not the face value. Most students will not have receivable notes (Examples: Payment for grain or puppies sold)

  34. The next section includes items that are student owned and used in one of the enterprises in the SAE Book. The various items are listed on the pages in the directions. Items not listed in the enterprise inventories should be listed as an Other Asset below. The total inventory of all enterprises MUST equal the value listed on lines 4 to 8. To indicate that you did not miss an item, enter 0.00 in the box. S-2 0.00 0.00 150.00 0.00 35.00 1585.48 Once items 1 to 8 are entered total the values and enter in A1 and A2.

  35. The bottom half of S-2 is where personal assets are listed. List the Cash Surrender Value of Life Insurance, not the face value. If you own a car/truck enter the business value above and the personal value on Line 2. Use IRS rules to determine where the values should be entered. Also enter market value NOT Purchase Price.   36. List items of value on Line 3a to 3k. Remember that you must list Market Values not purchase or replacement cost. While some items will retain their market value or may increase, most items will decrease in value during the year.   37. S-3 S-3 is a listing of liabilities. The top of the page is productive liabilities and the middle other.Current is a bill or note payable within one year. Mortgages would be for land and/or buildings. Others would be for intermediate loans such as equipment.

  38. The other liability section would include personal items or loans and bills of a non-productive enterprise nature. Note: If the car or truck is partly a productive asset, that percent of the loan should be entered under line 4 at the top of the page. Once all entries are made, total the items as indicated in the formulas. S-3

  39. S-3 To complete the bottom of S-3 follow the instructions. The formula for Net Worth is Assets minus Liabilities. The Change in Net Worth is the Difference in Net Worth from the beginning to the end of the year.

  40. S-4 Notice the directions -- The Narrative Summary is to include information related to your SAE. For the purposes of this page, a CDE, workshop that is not related to your SAE should NOT be included here, but in the following Leadership Pages.

  42. In most cases pages L-1 to L-3 are very easy to understand and complete. Make certain that you read the categories and follow directions. The information on the top of L-1 will be used when completing advanced degree and proficiency applications. Note: If the book is computerized, Pages L-1 to L-3 can be inserted directly into the Keystone Application. L-1

  43. The bottom of page L-1 is for the entry of Office and Committee Assignments. Selling a case of citrus does not make you a member of the citrus committee. Indicate involvement by Years, not by entering an X. Since many committees may cover the school year, enter information to indicate the time frame. L-1

  44. Cooperative Activities include any FFA Activity not listed on L-1. Items such as CDE’s, Sales, and Leadership Activities should be included. Information should be entered by year(s) the event occurred, not school year. L-2

  45. Enter any activity outside of the FFA on page L-3. Include activities within both the school and community. Do not forget workshops and conferences. Include only those items which occurred during your FFA membership years. L-3
