Testing of Pixel Calibration for a lab model of the CZT Jayant K Pendharkar
Objective To study the pixel efficiency of the sub-quadrant of the CZT detector
Requirements: • For the purpose of pixel calibration, a sub-quadrant (2 x 2 containing 4 detector modules) of the CZT is taken • Dimensions of the sub-quadrant: 82.5mm x 82.5mm (including one pixel separation between the modules)
Contd … • A brass sheet of thickness 0.8mm and size 82.5mm x 82.5mm with circular holes of 1mm diameter spaced 5mm apart is fabricated. • a read-out device (ASIC) which will bedetecting the counts.
Experimental Setup • A radio-active source 241Am emitting in 60keV is opted. • Brass sheet is placed 100cm apart from the source. • The sub-quadrant section of the CZT detector is mounted on a turntable and is placed 10mm apart from the brass sheet. • The whole setup is mounted on a steady table.
Procedure • the pattern is such that odd numbered holes (1st, 3rd, 5th, ..etc) will be exposed. • shift the detector in the horizontal direction by 0.1mm and record the counts.
Graph • the counts remain constant for the time the pixels are exposed fully to the holes and gradually drops, as the holes drifts away for the odd numbered pixels and rise gradually from zero for the evenly numbered.
Thank You ….
