Objectives: • To leverage the potential of ICT in providing high quality personalized and interactive knowledge modules over the internet / intranet for all the learners in Higher Education in 'any time - any where' mode. • To cater educational needs of the students enrolled in external / distance mode of learning. (At present 30% of the total students enrolled in regular course are enrolled in 'External / Distance' mode of learning. The success of this project can be of immense help to these students along with regular students.) • To implement pedagogical issues identified through UGC- Research project. • E-Content generation through participation of teachers and students of various colleges and universities of several countries. • To prepare SAQs for NET (English) on Moodle and WikiEducator. • To convert study material of English (as recommended by UGC) in digital form.
Methodology: • Identification of teachers with e-skills and those who are keen to develop and hone e-skills. • A series of Workshops at various places in Gujarat or at Bhavnagar University to provide guidelines for e-content development, using wiki-tools etc • The group of advanced learners from students will be identified and they will also be invited to participate in workshops. • Using 'WikiEducator' platform, e content will be developed by teachers and valuable input from students.
Methodology (Cont…) • In each workshop, the main theme will depend on UGC’s model syllabus for English Language and Literature. • The e-content on 'WikiEducator' platform will be reviewed by the panel of expert teachers. • The e-content will be tested before dissemination through internationally recognized tools to test and evaluate course content. • Once the e-content is developed and tested, the URLs will be shared with all the universities of India. • This content will have open access and no revenue will be generated from users (students or teachers).
Time Schedule: • Time Requires: 18 Months (One and half Year) • Phase 1: • Identification of teachers and students from various colleges and universities of Gujarat state (and may be from other states also). (Time: 2 months - Jan-Feb 2010). • Planning of face-to-face and online workshops of 7 to 21 days. (Time: 1 month. March 2010) • Workshops: (Time: 6 months - April to Sept 2010). (We cannot have more than 24 people in face-to-face or online workshop). • Preparing Model for e-Content - this will be the output of all the workshops: (Time: 2 months - Oct-Nov 2010.) • Testing of model e-content: (Time: One Month - Dec 2010).
Phase 2: • Preparing e-Content: (Time 4 Months: Jan to April 2011). • Testing and evaluating e-content: (Time 2 Months: May and June 2011). • From the academic year 2011/12 we can put all these material open for all the students of India and abroad. Launch in July 2011.
Details of Financial Outlay: • Non-Recurring: 5,00,000 • Recurring: 8,00,000 • Total: 13,00,000/- Rs.
