Open-Ended Responses Empathy: “I have learned to be more honest with patients and to take the time to see where they are coming from emotionally, spiritually and mentally.” Interpersonal Relations: “It’s so therapeutic to be able to express yourself in front of others and develop a greater understanding of the doctor-patient relationship.” Communication: “These groups help foster communication across the hierarchy of medical culture, which was great and much needed.” Job Satisfaction: “Reinforcement of the importance of the work I do in healthcare; pride in my job.” Cultural Awareness: “I was working with a 1st generation Chinese-American male whose 10 month old daughter had died. I was better able to listen patiently, accept silence and muted affect. With time he was able to express tearfully the beginnings of his grief. The book Rose was very helpful.”
