Asking For Money /Food Stuffs/Anything: • Establish a specific purpose for financial backing • Create a list of potential donors • Draft a formal letter • Timeline • Be persistent • Invite donors to and recognize donors at your event
Asking your Administration Be Polite • Follow existing processes • Make formal appointments • Secure an appointment well in advance • Allow adequate time for discussion • Be concise Be Prepared • Be clear on what you are asking for and why • Provide documentation for the project • Have your chapter’s budget readily available
Asking your Administration Be Thorough • Have a detailed description of how the funds will be used • Include line items for individual expenses • Be prepared to provide details concerning alternate funding avenues pursued Be Strategic • Frame the request with regard to benefiting the school • Split funding requests between administration and student government
Asking your Administration Be Persistent • If denied, don’t take it personally • Ask what would need to be modified for request approval
