Grants vs Contracts “Research contracts are negotiated between the scientist and a company, and may be of the result of the scientist approaching a company, or vice versa” It is extremely important to engage Lawson’s Grants & Contracts office early in negotiations for the following reasons: Institute overhead fees must be negotiated up-front! Proposed budgets to do the research must be reviewed! Contract must have the appropriate clauses to protect our scientists!
