How Do We Know God? • His creation (Psalm 19:1-3; Romans 1:18-20)
How Do We Know God? • His word (Romans 16:26; Deut. 29:29)
How Do We Know God? • His Son (Hebrews 1:1-3; Matthew 11:27) If God had not revealed Himself, man would not have been able to know Him personally.
What Can Be Known About God? • That God exists (Psalm 19:1-3) – There is a Mastermind behind the universe. It cannot be by chance! • God has a personality and emotions • He grieves over sin (Genesis 6:6) • God gets angry (1 Kg 11:9) yet loves (John 3:16) • God can laugh (Prov. 1:26) and rejoice (Isa 62:5) • God is jealous (Deut. 6:15 • God is holy (Psa. 99:9; 1 Peter 1:15-16)
What Can Be Known About God? • God is not human although He became a Man • God is the Creator and Sustainer of creation (Genesis 1; John 1; Colossians 1) • He is eternal (“from everlasting to everlasting” – Psalm 90:2) • He is all powerful (omnipotent, Matt. 28:18), all knowing (omniscient, Matt 9:3-4), and all present (omnipresent, Psalm 139:7-10).
What Can Be Known About God? • God loves His creation • Everything He created was good in His sight (Genesis 1:4, 20, 12, 18, 21, 25, 31) • God is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9) • God show His love to us by giving His only begotten Son (John 3:16) who took our place so we could go to heaven free by placing our faith in Him.
God’s Nature • God is a Trinity (Genesis 1:26) • Manifest at the baptism of Jesus (Matt. 3:13-17) • Manifest at the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19) • Mentioned in Paul’s prayer (2 Cor. 13:14) • The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are one (1 John 5:7).
