SSP1: SS Prerequisite 1Construction Activity Pollution Prevention Intent: During construction pollution occurs, especially during rain. Pollution on construction sites can be reduced by controlling the following. • Soil erosion • Airborne dust generation • Waterway sedimentation
SSP1: SS Prerequisite 1Construction Activity Pollution Prevention Intent: During construction pollution occurs, especially during rain. Pollution on construction sites can be reduced by controlling the following. • S___ e___ • A___ d___ g___ • W___ s___
SS Credit 1: 1 PointSite Selection Intent: • Avoid developing inappropriate sites. • Reduce environmental impact from the location of a building on a site.
SS Credit 1: 1 PointSite Selection Intent: • Avoid developing i___ s___. • Reduce environmental impact from the l___ of a b___ on a site.
SS Credit 2: 1 PointDevelopment Density & Community Connectivity Intent: • Channel development to urban areas with existing infrastructure. • Protect greenfields, habitat, and natural resources.
SS Credit 2: 1 PointDevelopment Density & Community Connectivity Intent: • Channel development to u___ a___ with e___ i___. • Protect g___, h___, and n___ r___.
SS Credit 3: 1 PointBrownfield Development Note: expensive to implement, government incentives/tax breaks Intent: • Rehabilitatedamaged sites (environmentally contaminated sites) • Reduce pressure on undeveloped land
SS Credit 3: 1 PointBrownfield Development Note: expensive to implement, government incentives/tax breaks Intent: • R___d___ sites (environmentally c___ sites) • Reduce p___ on u___ land
SS Credit 4.1: 1 PointAlternative Transport Public Transport Access Public Transport Access Intent: • Reduce pollution from auto use • Reduce land development from auto use
SS Credit 4.1: 1 PointAlternative Transport Public Transport Access Public Transport Access Intent: • Reduce p___ from a___ use • Reduce l___ d___ from a___ use
SS Credit 4.2: 1 PointAlternative Transport Bicycle Storage & Changing Rooms This is the first credit that deals with FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) occupants. The definition of FTE is a sort of calculation explained here: Calculate the full-time equivalent (FTE) building occupants based on a standard 8-hour occupancy period. An 8-hour occupant has an FTE value of 1.0, while a part-time occupant has an FTE value based on their hours per day divided by 8. • FTE Occupants = Occupant Hours / 8 • This calculation must be consistent for all LEED for New Construction credits. Bicycle Storage & Changing Rooms Intent: • Reduce ___ from ___ ___ • Reduce ___ ___ from ___ ___
SS Credit 4.3: 1 PointAlternative Transport: Low Emitting & Fuel Efficient Vehicles Intent: • Reduce • Reduce
SS Credit 4.4: 1 PointAlternative Transport: Parking Capacity Intent: • Reduce • Reduce
SS Credit 5.1: 1 PointSite Development: Protect or Restore Habitat Intent: • Conserve existing natural areas • Restore damaged areas • Provide habitatspace • Promote biodiversity
SS Credit 5.1: 1 PointSite Development: Protect or Restore Habitat Intent: • Conserve e___ n___ a___ • Restore d___ a___ • Provide h___s___ • Promote b___
SS Credit 5.2: 1 PointSite Development: Maximize Open Space Intent: • Achieve high open space/buildingfootprint ratio • Promote biodiversity
SS Credit 5.2: 1 PointSite Development: Maximize Open Space Intent: • Achieve high o___ s___/b___f___ ratio • Promote b___
SS Credit 6.1: 1 PointStormwater Design: Quantity Control Intent: • Limit disruption of natural hydrology • Increase filtration on-site • Managerunoff storm water • Eliminatecontaminant sources • Reduce impervious cover • Reduce/eliminate pollution • Remove pollutants from storm water runoff • Stormwater design (for reduction of impervious surface) • Alternative surfaces: rain gardens, vegetated swales, rainwater recycling • Non-structural surfaces: vegetated roofs, pervious pavement, grid pavers
SS Credit 6.1: 1 PointStormwater Design: Quantity Control Intent: • Limit disruption of n___ h___ • Increase f___ on-site • Manager___ storm water • Eliminatec___ sources • Reduce i___ cover • Reduce/eliminate p___ • Remove p___ from storm water runoff • S___ design (for reduction of impervious surface) • Alternative s___: rain gardens, vegetated swales, rainwater recycling • N___-s___ surfaces: vegetated roofs, pervious pavement, grid pavers
SS Credit 6.2: 1 PointStormwater Design: Quality Control Intent: • Limit disruption of natural hydrology • Increase filtration on-site • Managerunoff storm water • Eliminatecontaminant sources • Reduce impervious cover • Reduce/eliminate pollution • Remove pollutants from storm water runoff • Stormwater design (for reduction of impervious surface) • Alternative surfaces: rain gardens, vegetated swales, rainwater recycling • Non-structural surfaces: vegetated roofs, pervious pavement, grid pavers
SS Credit 6.2: 1 PointStormwater Design: Quality Control Intent: • Limit disruption of n___ h___ • Increase f___ on-site • Manager___ storm water • Eliminatec___ sources • Reduce i___ cover • Reduce/eliminate p___ • Remove p___ from storm water runoff • S___ design (for reduction of impervious surface) • Alternative s___: rain gardens, vegetated swales, rainwater recycling • N___-s___ surfaces: vegetated roofs, pervious pavement, grid pavers
SS Credit 7.1: 1 PointHeat Island Effect: Non-Roof Heat Island effect occurs when warm temperatures are experienced in urban areas compared to adjacent rural areas because of solar energy retention on constructed surfaces: for example, black asphalt and concrete horizontal surfaces absorb sun energy and become warm. Solar Reflectance Index (SRI). offers a measure of the ability of a surface to reject solar heat. It ranges from 0 (black) to 100 (white). This is not to be confused with emissivity, which is the ratio of the radiation emitted by a surface to the radiation emitted by a black body at the same temperature. Intent: • Reduce heat islands • Minimize solar impact on microclimate and habitats
SS Credit 7.2: 1 PointHeat Island Effect: Roof Intent: • Reduce heat islands • Minimize impact on microclimate and habitats
SS Credit 7.2: 1 PointHeat Island Effect: Roof Intent: • Reduce h___ i___ • Minimize impact on ___ and h___
SS Credit 8: 1 PointLight Pollution Reduction Intent: • Minimize light trespass from building and site • Reduce sky glow • Improve nighttime visibility through glare reduction • Reduce development impact on nocturnal environments
