4. (The toy soldiers put him back in the box close the lid. They go back to being statues.)“Cousins for Christmas”

5. My cousins are coming for Christmas! Can’t wait til they get here! At the big homecoming, we’ll all be humming a Christmasy tune this year! My cousins are coming for Christmas! I know they’re on their way! Oh, and everybody’s buzzin, cause my cousins by the dozen make this my favorite holiday!

6. Cousin Bree will come from Brooklyn in her shiny pick up truck. And Joe arrives from Juneau with his parka and mukluks. From LA in a Prius, they’re coming home to see us, and any way they get here is OK!

7. Cousin Flo will come from Florida, we hope she brings some sun! And Wes is from Wisconsin, he’ll bring cheese for everyone!They’re coming from Detroit, and they’re stopping by Beloit, and they all can make the trip in their own way!

8. They’re riding in a Lexus, driving all the way from Texas, in a one horse open sleigh, dashing in from I-O-Way, Now some will come by train—or use miles-to take the plane. They’ve got it in high gear, coming home for Christmas cheer!

18. Cousin 5:My eyes are feeling sleepy. It’s getting kind of late.Cousin 6:I’m usually fast asleep by now, ‘Cause look, it’s way past eight.Cousin 7: Me too. I know just how you feel. I think I’ll hit the hay.

19. Cousin 6:Come on, you guys, let’s go to sleep. It’s time, so what do you say?Little Cousin: (very sleepy)I will not go to sleep!I will not go to sleep!Older Cousin:What’s the matter with you all?You can’t be tired yet.

28. (Boy rag doll knocks frantically on the Jack in the Box llid while the girl rag doll quickly turns the crank. “Pop goes the weasel”) Boy Rag Doll: (frantically)Now, now, Jack in the Box! What are you waiting for?Girl Rag Doll:Come out, Jack, it’s time at last! Open up your door!

29. Jack in the Box: (popping out)Happy Holidays everyone! Oh happy Holidays! Did I hear “party”? Oh what a blast! I’m free! I’m free! I’m free at last!(the other toys are slowly coming to life. Dolls dance like ballerinas, soldiers salute, bear is dancing.)Cousin 1:I can’t believe it! The toys are talking! And look over there. The dolls are walking!

30. Cousin 2: I can’t believe my sleepy eyes! I never expected this big surprise!LittleCousin: (wide eyed)I will not go to sleep!I will not go to sleep!Dancing Bear: (to little cousin)Hello there, little cousin
