No Expressway Alliance – an introduction • Launched September 2018 • Membership currently 34 organisations • Form Oxford to Cambridge Friends of the Earth
Aims • To present the economic case against the Expressway and promote East West rail as an alternative. • To represent a wide geographical spread of member groups and individuals. • Conduct public activities • Assemble evidence to resist the Expressway proposals.
Economic benefits • Expressway 1.2 or 1.3 to one • M4 relief road 2:1 – cancelled on cost grounds • Benefit below which government must review the project 1:5 to one
Economic benefits – Highways England switching table To achieve 1.5 to one benefit for the Expressway • Costs must REDUCE by 14% and 21% for each corridor • Costs for HS 2 have doubled since the project began • A reduction of 20 – 25% would eliminate all economic benefit from the Expressway/

How can you help? We need: secretary, treasurer, web site manager, social media person. Please respond to the October consultation on routes. - make the case for your locality but also oppose the Expressway in principle.
