How it all began… • Between Lust and Frustration – Active Women in the AIDS Crisis • November 1992 • Gay Men = well networked, integrated in the AIDS-NGO system (Aids-Hilfe) • Women = more isolated, whether living with HIV or dealing with it • Don‘t complain, get involved! Who is the Network? • a loose alliance • no registered association, no membership.. • Every woman who wants to participate • Curiosity is enough! Participation desired! • Continuously evolving body of members including: • mothers, physicians, social workers, with HIV, not tested, German and non German... Harriet Langanke ● GSSG ● Germany
Why not a registered association? • To stay open, no binding bylaws • To stay accessible • Not a necessity, as long as the Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe (DAH) and the Foundation (GSSG) are helping Harriet Langanke ● GSSG ● Germany

How does the Network communicate? • Via the „Knotenfrauen“ (hubs) • in their regions • in the regions of the other Knotenfrauen • nowadays: mostly – but not only! – by E-Mail Harriet Langanke ● GSSG ● Germany
