The Disconnect: Collaboration Amongst Professionals Megan Darnell Barrie Talbott Honors Composition II 2 May 2013
What’s Going On? • BAD COLLABORATION • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjMom3gOBmc
Why Do I Care? • Without teacher collaboration our future generation will crumble. • In today’s global society we can no longer guarantee student’s jobs because they continue to lack the skills employers desire.
Why Is This Happening? • Professors are not required to complete any training in regards to learning how to collaborate amongst themselves in the educational system.
Why Isn’t It Working? • Without collaboration between professors and faculty there is no understanding of real world concepts and no motivation to learn. • Today’s academia is too departmentalized for students to grasp the big picture • Without communication and collaboration amongst teachers and faculty there becomes a sense of solidarity and a lack of motivation and drive, creating more of a barrier to overcome.
How Do We Fix It? • Teacher collaboration is paramount to allowing students the ability to learn real world applicable knowledge in the classroom. • GOOD COLLABORATION • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cveEkYba7CY • Preach what we Practice. Practice the Big Picture-a collaborative picture.
