CYO PHILOSOPHY • Opportunity for youth to participate in activities under conditions that are safe, enjoyable, and promote Christian attitudes of fair play and cooperation. • Goal is for athletes to feel good about themselves, respect others, accept responsibilities, strive for excellence, improve skills, have fun and look forward to future participation in sports • Athlete first, winning second!
DIVISIONS • Roadrunners – 3rd and 4th grade • Cubs – 5th and 6th grade • Cadets – 7th and 8th grade
EVENTS • 100m, 200m, 400m 800m, 1500m (all ages) • 3000m (Cub and Cadet only) • Shuttle Relay (4 x 60) – Roadrunner only • 4 x 100 relay • 4 x 400 relay (Cub and Cadet only) • Shot Put, Turbo Javelin, Long Jump • High Jump (Cub and Cadet only)
PRACTICES Monday and Thursday at Sunset High School Track 5:45 – 7:00/7:15pm EXCEPTIONS: • No practice Spring Break (March 25 and 28) • No practice Thurs April 4 – will move to Wed April 3 • No practice Thurs April 25 – will move to Wed April 24
MEETS • Developmental Meets: 8:30 AM – Sites TBD • Sat 4/13, Sat 4/20, Sat 4/27, Sat 5/4 • Roadrunner Championships (3rd and 4th grade only) – Sat May 11 – 8:30 AM La Salle Prep • CYO Meet of Champions (qualifying 5th – 8th graders) – Sat May 18 at 9:00am and Sun May 19 at 1:00pm – Jesuit High School • Athletes choose own events except for Championship meets • No Dogs allowed at meets! • Please do not ask officials for times/results - will be posted usually by Monday on website

VOLUNTEERS • 1 per every 10 athletes - Sign up on website week prior to meet – mandatory • We cannot run meets without parent volunteers! • Also need assistance with setting up tents early on meet days

WHAT TO BRING TO PRACTICE • Running shoes/clothes • Dress in layers – Dri-fit clothes are better than cotton. • Prepare for cold and wet weather – Practice and meets are rain or shine! • Water bottle • Spikes - Cubs and Cadets only • A good attitude!
SAFETY • Athletes to stay off high jump/pole vault mats at Sunset – Remember, we are guests at this facility. • Talk with your athlete about track awareness – They need to pay attention to what is going on around them and on the track.
UNIFORMS REQUIRED : • Singlet - Ordered duringregistration or may have from last year – Available in next few weeks – distributed at practice • Black Bottoms (shorts, tights) PREFERRED -White under garment on top OPTIONAL: • St Pius Panthers gear - available to order online March 10- March 20 • www.gearupsports.net/spxtrack
