  3. What Happened…….? • Cyclical markets • Lack of demand for product • Over capacity within NEC Corp We tried: natural wastage; recruitment restrictions; overtime restrictions; cost-cutting initiatives, etc.,

  4. What Happened…….? 31st July 2001 Announced 600 redundancies Markets continued to worsen 18th December 2001 Announced plant closure
