  2. Scientific notation • A number is in scientific notation if it is written in the form • a x 10n • where n is an integer and 1 < |a| < 10 • Ex: 3.4 x 106, 5.43 x 1013, 9 x 10-10

  4. Example • Simplify 7 x (4 x 105). • Give your answer in scientific notation.
