  2. WHAT IS ENERGY? • Energy is the ability or the capacity to do work.It can chance for to another but it can’t be create or distroyed.

  3. ENERGY INSIDE THINGS.For example IN THE FOOD WE CAND FIND CHEMICAL ENERGY THAT LET US MOVE,RUN,ETC;IN THE SUN WE CAN FIND THERMAL ENERGY.ALL THESE FORMS ARE FORMS OF ENERGY.There are two big groups of forms of energy:Potencial energy and kinetical energy.Energy sources are the natural resources we can use to get energy and then we can change it into differents forms.We use solar panels to get energy from the sun, etc…

  4. Kinds of energy sources • Renewable: renewable energy sources can be replenished naturally. • Non renewable: Nonrenewable energy sources come out of the ground as liquids, gases, and solids. Crude oil (petroleum) is the only commercial nonrenewable fuel that is naturally in liquid form. Natural gas and propane are normally gases, and coal is a solid.

  6. OIL AND GAS • Oil and gas are fossil fuels which were formed in the Carboniferous period millions of years ado when tiny sea creatures called diatoms died and sank to the bottom of the oceans

  7. NUCLEAR • Nuclear fuel is made from radioactive Uranium Ore which occurs naturally in the ground. It is also know as yellowcake. The yellow Uranium Ore is purified to provide the shiny Uranium metal used in nuclear power plants.

  8. COAL • Coal is a fossil fuel which was formed in the Carboniferous period milions of years ago,(befored the dinosaurs!)when the earth was covered which oceans,swamps,trees and plants! When the trees and plants died they formed a layer of peat,which over time became buried by more and more layers of clay,sand and rock. Over milions of years,the presure of these extra layers turned the peat into the coal we put on our fires and fuel our power stations whith today.

  9. RENEWABLE • Wave, Geothermal, Hydro-electric, Solar,Winelectric, Wind, Biomass, Tidal

  10. Wave • Wave are crated by the wind blowing across the sea and by the gravitional force of the moon. Wave power uses the enegy of teh waves to turn turbines that make electricity.

  11. GEOTHERMAL • Geothermal power usesthe heat that comes from deep rocks under rhe surface of the Earth.The temperature of the Earth increases towards its centre.the hot water or steam that comes from deep within our planet can be used to make electricity.

  12. HYDRO-ELECTRIC • Hydro-electric is generate from running water.Dams are buit across a lake or river in a valley to trap water.The water flows trough tunnels and turns the turbines wich make electricity.

  13. Solar • The Sun releases an amazing amount of energy due to the nuclear fusion of hydrogen taking place within its core.Solar panels,called photovoltaic cells are used to convert the Sun’s energy into electricity.The Sun can also be used to heat water passing through special solar collectors.

  14. WIND • Wind is made when the Sun heats the Earth and the area above land gets hotter than the area above water. The hot air above land rises upwards leaving an area of low pressure. Cooler air moves into this area of low pressure making wind which we us to turn wind turbines and make electricity . Windused to be used to turn windmills to grind wheat into flour.

  15. Biomass • Biomass uses the energy from plants and waste materials to make electricity. For example wood or animal droppings can be burnt to make steam that turns turbines to make electricity.

  16. TIDAL • Tidal energy comesfrom the movement of water in the sea by the tides. These tides happen twice a day.The flow of water that created by the tides is used to turn generators that make electricity.

  17. Save energy • Save money and not pollute it is important because one day the world had exploiting.We to try to reduce reuse and recycle it so the world will not be in danger. Reuse: If reusing the paper on both sides there will be to cut down many arboles. Reduce: if we reduce the amount of plastic will be better for the environment. Recycle: pull each package in its corresponding container.
