Lesson 8– Romans 8:1-25 The Gospel – God’s Power To Save Man • The sinful condition of the whole world and its need for salvation – (1:18-3:20) • Men are justified by pardon, (grace), not merit, (works) – (3:21 - 4:25) • The benefits of justification based on Christ’s death –(5:1-25) • The gospel of grace requires holiness – Not to continue in sin – (6:1-23) • The hopeless condition of one under the Law outside of Christ – (7:1-25) • Freedom from sin – (8:1-17)
Lesson 7 – Romans 7:1-25 The Gospel – God’s Power To Save Man Hopelessness Under Law - 7:13-24 Man CANNOT save Himself from sin outside of Christ Romans 7:24-25 (NKJV) 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. God provides deliverance through Christ. Summarizing the conflict that exist in the man under the Law after finding himself guilty of violating it.
Lesson 8– Romans 8:1-25 The Gospel – God’s Power To Save Man Freedom From Condemnation - (1-6) • Sin brings condemnation for which the Law had no remedy – Rom 3:23; 1 John 1:8; James 2:10,11; Is. 59:1,2; Rom. 6:23; Rev. 21:8 • There is no condemnation for those in Christ – (8:1; Gal. 3:26,27; 2 Cor. 5:17) • The Law of the Spirit makes free from the Law of sin and death for those who walk according to it – (8:1-4; John 6:63; 12:48; 2 John 1:9; Gal. 3:21; Heb. 7:18,19; 10:1-10)
Lesson 8– Romans 8:1-25 The Gospel – God’s Power To Save Man Freedom From Power of Sin - (7-17) • Sin enslaves, and under the Law there was no deliverance – (John 8:31-37; Prov 5:22; Acts 8:23; Rom. 6:6-20) • Those who reject the Gospel cannot please God – (8:7,8; Gal. 5:1-6) • Those who walk according to the Law of the Spirit has life – (8:9-11; 1 John 3:24; 1 Cor. 3:16; Eph 5:18; Col. 3:16) • Those who walk according to the Law of the Spirit are joint heirs with Christ – (8:12-17; Gal. 4:5-7; Eph. 1:11-14)
Lesson 8– Romans 8:1-25 The Gospel – God’s Power To Save Man Freedom From Corruption - (18-25) • The present suffering not to be compared with the glory to be revealed in us - (8:18; 2 Cor. 4:17,18; 2 Thes. 1:7-12) • The curse of death due to sin – (Gen 3:22-24; Rom 5:17) • All of creation placed under a curse because of sin – (8:19-22; Gen. 3:17-19) • God’s purpose in glorifying His children gives hope – (8:23-25; 5:2; 2 Cor. 5:1-8; Heb. 6:18,19)

God’s Means of Making Men Righteous Is Not By The Law – But Through The Gospel Romans 1:16,17 16For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith.“
