This Third Green Revolution, which follows the plant breeding and genetics revolutions, is transforming agriculture thanks to the application of various ICT solutions, including precision machinery, the Internet of Things (IoT), sensors and actuators, geo-positioning systems, big data, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, drones), robotics, etc.

This Third Green Revolution, which follows the plant breeding and genetics revolutions, is transforming agriculture thanks to the application of various ICT solutions, including precision machinery, the Internet of Things (IoT), sensors and actuators, geo-positioning systems, big data, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, drones), robotics, etc. Based on a more precise and resource-efficient strategy, smart farming has the potential to produce more productive and sustainable agricultural production. However, whereas up to 80% of farmers in the USA may employ some form of SFT, just 24% do so in Europe.
