It can’t be done from your car! • “cruising” means a lot more than what you like to do on the weekend at night • it is also the term used for estimating the volume of standing timber on a tract of forest land

Cruising Data • Cruising timber is one of the sections on the Forestry CDE. • We will use data collected on DBH, tree height, form class, and basal area.
When we are finished we will be able to . . . • Accurately estimate tree diameters and heights with a variety of equipment • Draw tally symbols • Estimate tree form class • Determine basal area for a selected tract of timber
