Purpose -REMOVE yourself from distractions - open your mind and become part of the environment -APPLY topics covered in class -OBSERVE using your senses / life around you
Expectations -PRIVATE: 20 feet awayfrom another person’s sit spot -SIT quietly while at your sit spot -OBSERVE nature as it really is *BECOME A STUMP! Excess noise / movement distracts other students / lessens the experience for everyone -NO phones/talking/horsing around -You are expected to participate in every sit spot day If absent you must make up this time on your own…see me for details
Journal JOURNAL experiences at sit spot-- -INCLUDE: date/time/weather conditions -OBJECTIVE: content question for each sit -- answer using details / examples from your sit spot -COLLECT DATA: observations, questions, drawings, experiences -- anything else you would like to add
Grade -EACH observation / reflection --10 points -POINTS will be deducted for distracting behavior or failure to complete journal entries
Safety -We will be ACROSS the street near CBAC -NO ONEmay cross the street until Mrs. P says it is OK to go *Failure to wait or cross safely (walking) will result in loss of points and possibly a detention or loss of sit spot.*** ***THIS GOES FOR ANY SAFETY RULE AS WELL -You will be in nature which contains hazards -Do NOT pick up/touch/taste OR disturb anything -ADVISE Mrs. P of any allergies or concerns with the outdoors before going outside
