How Do We React? • Problems are common to man. • They don’t all come from God. • Job was tempted by Satan. • But sometimes God may be trying to get our attention. • What lessons can we learn?
Problems Can Direct Us • “Stripes that wound scour away evil, And strokes reach the innermost parts.” (Proverbs 20:30) • Prov. 22:15 • The way we’re going may not be evil, just unprofitable. • Balaam and the donkey, Num. 22:22ff.
Problems Can Inspect Us • Our faith can be tested by problems. • James 1:2-3. • Timothy vs. Mark. Acts 13:5, 13; Acts 16:1. • To be purified as gold, problems show us our weaknesses. • Mark learned, Col. 4:10; 2 Tim. 4:11.
Problems Can Correct Us • Hebrews 12:5-13. • “Experience keeps a dear school, but a fool learns in no other.” • David, Peter, Us.
Problems Can Protect Us • Gen. 50:20 – Jospeh. His troubles saved a nation. Or two. • Daniel in captivity. See the Hand of God. • Friend, fired for not going along with wrongdoing. Later most of fellow workers charged with crimes.
Problems Can Perfect Us • It seems that “building character” is never fun. • Romans 5:3-4. • If this was good enough for “the only begotten”, it is good enough for us. • Hebrews 5:8-9 • Sometimes the hand of God is in our lives while we’re complaining. • We need to see through the troubles…
