Neurologists • A neurologist is someone who studies the features, diseases, and disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. • The word neurologist comes from the Latin root words “neuro,” which means “brain,” and “ology,” which means “study of.”
School + Neurology • In order to become a neurologist , I’d have to go to school for about 5-8 years. I’d also have to take the Medical College Admission Test. He first 4 years I’ll have to go to a 4 year college or university and work on undergraduate work.I’d probably choose a major in pre-medicine or biology to have a better chance of getting in medical school. • During the next 4 years, I’d have to get accepted and go to medical school. • I could spend my ninth year in a hospital to apply the skills I used in Medical School and then move up to Neurology.

Typical Duties for a Neurologist Neurologists have to: Provide their patients with information on their medical and surgical risk, if there is one. Examine the patients medical history and results to see if an operation is need. Plan what procedure, medicines, and therapy will be best for the patient and will heal the best. Neurologists will have to communicate and work with others. Using a computer for files on a patients history would happen often.

PROS & CONS Pros: • I would love this job because I love helping people. • Also, I like the idea of studying the Nervous System and finding cures to different types of diseases. Cons: • I wouldn’t like the fact that I would have to see people who have traumas because I hate seeing people who are suffering • Using computers to access patients’ files would be a con for me.
