Life Cycle of the Bat • The baby bat is called a pup. The pup stays in the mother’s body for about 40 days. • When the time has come for the pup to come out, the mother hangs upright and has her pup. • When the new pup is born, it cannot fly. It will take about two weeks for it to learn how to hunt and fly. • When the mother bat goes hunting, the pup will cling to the mother and they go out together and learn more. • After about one month, the pup has become an adult.
