ShickeredSnails Will snails dipped in wine and Monster affect its speed? Name: Beatriz Lopez, Jessica Campos, and Veronica Ramirez School: Computech Middle School ABSTRACT In our experiment we dipped snails in monster and the other half in alcohol(Wine) We then took them out and timed the rate that their eye stalks went back into their head when we poked them. We found out that it didn’t make much of a difference. Summary We found that there was only a slight difference but the one that had a higher average by .01 was Monster Energy drink, but one snail that was dipped in Monster was very slow. METHODS We got 20 different pairs of snails and dipped them in water for 30 sec. We then dipped one in wine and the other in monster for 30 sec. We waited for them to wake up. When they did we touched their eye with a spoon and saw how long it took for their eye to go back in its head. CONCLUSION or DISCUSSION or APPLICATIONS Our hypothesis was not supported because there was only a small difference. One snail that was dipped in Monster did go very slow, this could have been us not taking the time right or just that it didn’t have enough Monster. During the experiment we only used one stopwatch when we could have used two to get most accurate time. We could have done more trials with more snails. INTRODUCTION Supposedly wine has ethanol that is supposed to make humans tipsy and unaware. Monster is supposed to make humans have energy. Will those effects be the ones the sna il will have or not? Snails Snails DATA and ANALYSIS The average for monster is .85 second and the average for wine is .84 second. Question and Hypothesis We think the Monster will make their eyes go back in their head faster wine and will not make their eyes go back in as fast, because the wine will make them drunk and maybe they will fall asleep, but monster will energize them. http://www.drugabuse.gov/drugs-abuse/alcohol
