  3. MODERNIZATION • Since 2012, INE started with a modernization initiative to improve statistical production processes. This is aligned with global issues such as Data Revolution, Big data, Open Data as well as regional and national initiatives. • Holistic approach involving people, processes and technology • GSBPM as the basis for the modernization and adoption of standards • Final goal is to satisfy user needs

  4. TRAINING • National statistical school was created to train statisticians primarily for the National Statistical System • Short term courses for INE staff and managers • Contribute to the reduction of turnover

  5. CHALLENGES • Main challenges include: • Statistical act has to be updated • Monitoring of the SDGs (which indicators the country is able to produce) • Power IT to reduce costs, improve data quality, exchange data and metadata • Macroeconomic scenario (growth in the extractive and manufacturing industries such as oil, gas, energy, natural resources and mines. • Strengthen cooperation • Improve studies, researches including poverty assessment • Reinforcement of the civil registry program • Transformation of the statistical school to be high level school
