  1. VIST: Stenting versus best medical therapy for symptomatic vertebral stenosis • Women or Men aged >20 years of age • Symptomatic vertebral stenosis (anywhere in the VA - V1, V2&V3, V4) resulting from presumed atheromatous disease • Severity of stenosis ≥ 50% as determined by MRA or CTA or IAA • Symptoms of TIA or non-disabling stroke within the last three months • Patient able to provide written informed consent, be willing to be randomised to either treatment arm, and be willing to participate in follow-up • If randomised to stenting, stenting is technically feasible AND will be performed within two weeks after randomisation • NO previous stenting in randomised artery; NO pregnant or lactating women Randomise to VIST!
