CS production. Ariga CS team. CS production status. Production is going on. Climatization is working for 3weeks. With the speed of 700~1000/day ~15,000 of stock. 20,000 in this year. Good collaboration between Russia, Turk, Japan. 1000/day is feasible with current configuration.

CS production status • Production is going on. • Climatization is working for 3weeks. • With the speed of 700~1000/day • ~15,000 of stock. • 20,000 in this year. • Good collaboration between Russia, Turk, Japan. • 1000/day is feasible with current configuration. • 6person x 7hours / day • Further improvement in workability will be done by adding equipments (+20% operation speed) • Vacuum pump, Refresh trays…
Today 15,000 Progress in Nov. Slope=700CSD/day 5person 3person 6person
CSs in Oct run have higher fog density than CSs in Aug run!? • It makes 20% of speed reduction in Sysal (by Luillo). • Comparison of Fog between Oct and Aug run? • Under investigation. (FD for Oct-run = 5(by eye) 9(by auto)) • Other information • Half of films have same refresh batch as Aug run. • Check Aug run samples. • The rest of CSs in Aug-run were still in shield room. (only ~100 out of 300 were developed.)
Cosmic Muon Background in underground Ariga, Max
Cosmic Muon Background in underground • Motivation • Storage direction of CS • Passive period from CS production to installation to Wall(~a few month). • Every cosmic can be Background for CS. • Should we keep “DAQ ON” also during beam off period? • Period after installation to TT-Wall. • CS will record all cosmics as background, but if we could use TT as a Veto, we can actively recognized it as cosmics. • It was written in proposal of CS, but now people wants to quantitative discussion. Quantitative estimation.
Method • Using MACRO result. • Large amount of data was taken by MACRO experiment. • Which was in Hall B! • MC generation by OpCosmics (latest version, not yet released). Thanks to Max!
Angular distribution MC generation for cosmics passing through 1 meter cubic in 10 years. ~105 trk top qy horizontal Azimuthal angle CNGS Counter clockwise Clockwise
Storage direction. • To search the angle with least cosmic density. • Procedure • Assume CS is parallel to gravity. • Assume certain angle with respect to CNGS. 2. MC generation for 1mx1mx1mm volume. 3. Count tracks in CS acceptance. CNGS Hall b CS cs Gravity
One example,,, angle 0. Tan(q) = 0.4 Tan(q) = 0.5 qy
Integrated count at certain angle (tan(theta) < 0.4, 0.5 circle) Nm / m2 / year Close-up angle CNGS Clockwise Maximum 85deg Counter clockwise angle Minimum 35deg Clockwise Direction to CornoGrande
Best Angle = 35deg clockwise Mu/m2/year Clockwise 35 degree is best direction to storage CS!! ~1/m2/year 0.001/CS/month. Negligible! Need crosscheck with OPERA data.
To keep angle,,, • CS box missing now. ~ 15,000 CS were stored without CS box. • Using carton support, we can keep within 50mrad.
Should we keep “DAQ ON” also during beam off period? How many tracks? Mu/m2/year 10/m2/year0.1/CS/year. 10% of CS will have cosmic tracks every year. crosscheck with OPERA data will be soon. (Jacques) discussion.
Summary • Production is going on. • 700~1000/day, 15,000 stock • Investigating fog problem. • Cosmic ray estimation (by Macro data). • Storage angle 35degree clockwise. • 0.001 track/CS/month @ tan(q)<0.4 • On Target, 0.1 track/CS/year. TT as Veto? • crosscheck with OPERA data will be soon.
