Here Lies Mr. Mason’s Sanity 1986 - 2012
Proof Reading • Proof Reading is when someone reads a piece of writing before submitting it. • Journalists • Authors • Professors
Fahrenheit 451 Sound Tracks • Everyone was making the same mistakes. • These were silly mistakes • Silly mistakes are made out of carelessness • Let’s go through them.
Formatting • Let’s go to a Word Document.
NOW we’re ready to type • Now look for other silly mistakes • “Title of a Song” – Band or Artist Name • Title of a Book or Novel • Remember!!! A written underline means ITALICIZE!
Example • The song “Bat Out of Hell” by Meatloaf reminds me of the part of Fahrenheit 451 when Montag is trying to get away from the city. • Notice! • The song title is in quotation marks • The first letter of the major words in the title are capitalized • The first letter of the artist’s name is capitalized • The title of the book is italicized!!!!
Spelling • Characters’ names • Spelled right? • First letter capitalized? • Word Choice • Some words look similar to otters • Make sure your using the write word • Comma Usage • The comma rules WE LEARNED IN CLASS!!!
Assignment Requirements • Is each song explained in a whole paragraph? • Is each song and artist mentioned? • Is it all written in PRESENT TENSE?
Finally • Read it out loud. • If you read it out loud and there is something that doesn’t sound right, it probably isn’t right. • READ IT OUT LOUD
This weekend • Revise your papers • Fix your spelling and grammar mistakes • Add more detail if you need more detail.
