If You Want to Be Free,Then Teen Pregnancy is Not the Key! By: Tina Sam and Rosalinda Diaz
Reason For Topic: Rosalinda: I chose this topic because I have a sister that got pregnant and it not only affected her life but it also affected my family's, myself included. It was hard on all of us, especially on my mother. And because my sister had a child, it changed everything. She was limited to what she could do, and how much she could go out. If anything, I think my mom and I had it the hardest because I share a room with them, and my mom would watch the baby when my sister had to go to school. My dad was hardly ever around and my brother always stayed in his room. Tina: I chose this topic because I have a cousin who got pregnant at age 16. This not only affected her life but it affected all our family. I watched her life as it goes up side down and it wasn't a very good experience. It did nothing but tore our whole family apart and I just couldn't watch it. I wanted to teach other girls what teenage pregnancy can do them not only it won't lead to an unhealthy life choice but I don't want them to go down the wrong path just how like my cousin did. Now the only thing she can do is learn from her mistake.
Goal We want to inform teenage girls what teenage pregnancy can do to them. We want them to know what effect it will have on their lives later like it did for my cousin/sister. We don't want teen girls getting pregnant or being sexually active, because it increases the risk of getting pregnant. Girls may think that having sex for the first time won't affect them, but they can get pregnant. We also want the girls to know that starting a family at a early age wont do them any good because it's twice the money they have to spent and how are you going to get a job without a diploma?
