  2. History • History is a record of the past. Historians search for primary resources such as newspapers, letters, journals, and other documents

  3. Geography • Geography is the study of people, places, and environment. Geography focuses on five themes: Location, Region, Place, Movement, and Human-Environment Interaction

  4. Government • The people in a society that have the authority to make laws, ensure they are carried out, and settle disagreements. • Limited – everyone must obey the laws • Unlimited- rulers do whatever they want • Citizen - legal member of a country

  5. Economics • Economics is the study of how people manage their resources by producing, exchanging, and using goods and services. There are three types of resources: • 1. Natural – gifts of nature • 2. Human – skills people have • 3. Capital- things people make

  6. Culture • Culture consists of the beliefs, customs, laws, art, and ways of living that people share
