What is an identity? • An equation that is true for all values of the variable for which the expressions in an equation are defined.
Pythagorean Identity sin²θ+ cos²θ=1 • Where does this come from? Now lets look at the Pythagorean theorem using the unit circle!!! Pythagorean Theorem! a²+b²=c² c b a X²+Y²=1²
Pythagorean Identity sin²θ+ cos²θ=1 When it comes to the unit circle x means? Cos Y means? Sin Therefore, y²+x²=1 then sin²θ+cos²θ=1
