Burning dossier for the UEVP: the new animal health strategy for the EU • Since the presentation of the Strategy by the European Commission back in September 2007 • Recognition of the crucial role played by veterinary practitioners by the Agriculture Council • Support of the UEVP amendments by the European Parliament as regards farm visitation system and accreditation of the veterinary schools • UEVP is now represented among the Animal Health Advisory Committee • Latestdevelopments and comingsteps • 21 October 2009: launch by the European Commission of a public consultation in order to prepare for the development of the future framework Directive on animal health • The questionnaire can be completed by stakeholders online until 31 December 2009 • 2010: political arbitrages will be made by the European Commission • 2011: adoption of a draft legislative proposal
