  2. Introduction: • Arabic ranks sixth in the world legal table of languages. With estimation of 186 million native speakers. • It is the language of the Quran, the holy book of Islam. • It is also widely used throughout the Muslim world.

  3. Arabic dialects : Classical Arabic: The language of the Quran. Modern standard Arabic: Used in books, newspapers, on television and radio, in the mosques, and in conversation between educated Arabs from different countries. Local dialects: Moroccan might have difficulty understanding an Iraqi.

  4. Is Arabic difficult? yes and no. Learning it will take time and practice. there aren't many irregularities in the grammar. Its much less complicated than Latin. probably simpler than German too.

  5. Arabic words are constructed from three letters ”roots” which convey a basic idea. For example k-t-b conveys the idea of writing.

  8. كاتبk-a-t-b author.مكتبm-k-t-b office.مكتبةm-k-t-b-a library.

  9. *There are 28 consonants and three vowels a-i-u.*the normal word order of a sentence is verb/subject/object.

  10. * feminine nouns add the suffix..(aat) to the plural.* masculine nouns generally have a “broken” plural which involves changing vowels in the middel of the word: kitaab(book) kutub(books).

  11. It has very few irregular verbs. • Does not use is or are at all in the present tense. “ the king good” means “ the king is good” • Subtle alterations in the basic meaning of verbs are made by adding to the root. These changes follow regular rules. Giving 10 possible” verb forms”.

  12. The root k-s-r produces: • Form 1: kasara. “he broke” • Form 2: kassarra.” he smashed to bites” • Form 3: inkasara. ”it was broken up”.

  13. Sometimes these must be used with care :example: • Qatala means he fight . قاتل • Qatala means he killed.قتل

  20. Note: In Arabic there is 3 types of verbs we use Mofrad(مفرد) which means single and there is single masculine and single feminine. Mothnaمثنى which means to things also there is masculine and feminine. Jamaa جمع which means plural and there is masculine plural and feminine plural.
