You will receive your blue theme-based worksheets. In your lit circle groups, you are to decide which one you think is most convincing with strong supportive evidence. Using this theme and evidence, you will be writing an individual essay that will help your group with the final project and presentation. How are we going to do this?
On a clean sheet of paper, write the following at the top so you do not forget the requirements for your essay • One paragraph describing theme • Three paragraphs describing your supportive evidence • One paragraph explaining how this theme connects to ERMS What is the message of the book for ERMS? • You will have about a half-hour to do this silently. If you finish early, you may read silently. This is a testing environment. What does my essay need?
Theme/Intro paragraph • You should include an introduction sentence that informs your reader of your book • Remember that theme is more than one word • Intro paragraph should be at least 3 sentences long • Three Pieces of Supportive Evidence (3 paragraphs) • Explain your evidence (what happened, who was involved, why is this important to the plot) • Convince your reader that this proves and supports the theme you mentioned above. • Each paragraph should be at least 5 sentences long • Connection to ERMS/Meaning • Explain how this theme and evidence connects to ERM What message does this book have for your peers about their lives and their actions?
