Selecting a Project Your project should fit into one of the following career pathways. Science & Engineering Social & Health Service Technology, Trades & Manufacturing • Arts and Communication • Business Finance & Operation • Business Marketing & Management
Things to Consider…….. Think about relationships between current school work; any connections you could use? Think about your career goals. What are your plans for next year? Might you begin these as part of your culminating project? Who do you know that might be able to help you throughout your project?
Project/Experience options: Option 1 – Job Shadow The job shadow option requires that the student select a job to shadow that relates to a career goals and a specific career pathway and find someone in the field to observe. The student observes an employee at the work-site to gain valuable career information and may perform some tasks while under supervision. The student must spend a minimum of 15 hours on the actual job.
Option 2 – Original Project The original project option requires that the student select a project that is directly related to the chosen career pathway. The student will create a physical project. The student will need to produce physical evidence of the project. Physical evidence may include but is not limited to the following: The student must spend a minimum of 15 hours creating the original project.
Option 3 – Internship The internship option requires that the student select an internship that relates to their career goals and a specific career pathway. For a student to be involved in an internship program, they must apply and be accepted by the organization, school, or business offering the internship opportunity. The student must spend a minimum of 15 hours interning.
Choosing a Mentor: It is very important that you choose a mentor who has professional experience within the profession and that your mentor can provide guidance and support throughout this process!!!!!

The Presentation Given in front of 3 judges, one is a certificated teacher Should make sure that the dress is appropriate 30 minutes to set up, complete your presentation and answer judges questions. Minimum of 11 minutes Remember that short presentations may not score well.
