  2. 一.定義 • 兼有代名詞及連接詞雙重功用的字 • 關係代名詞代替的字稱為先行詞或前述詞 • 關係代名詞所引導的子句,稱為關係子句或形容詞子句 例:The man who is sitting there is Mr. Lin. (關 係 子 句) The book which I like is expensive. (關 係子句)

  3. 二.先行詞是“人” 主格 The girl is my sister. The girl is singing. The girl who is singing is my sister. 所有格 The girl is my sister. The girl’s hair is long. The girl whose hair is long is my sister. 受格 The girl is my sister. Tom likes the girl. The girl whom Tom likes is my sister.

  4. 三.先行詞是“物” 主格 The book is right here. The book costs a lot. The book which costs a lot is right here. 所有格 The book is right here. The cover of the book is red. The book whose cover is red is right here. 受格 The book is right here. You are looking for the book. The book which you are looking for is right here.

  5. 四.一定要用that的狀況 1.先行詞有“人”也有“物” 例:I know the boy and the dog that are walking there. 2.先行詞有最高級 例:He is the tallest boy that I know. 3.先行詞有序數 例:He is the last man that I want to talk with. 4.先行詞有all, no, every, any, the same, the very, the only 例:Tell me all that you know about her. He is the only friend that I have. 5.以疑問詞who或which為首的問句 例:Who is the boy that you are talking about?

  6. 五.不可用that 的狀況 1.前有介詞時 例:The man to whom you are talking is Mr. Lin. The house in which he lives is beautiful. 2.前有逗點時(補述用法) 例:I have a brother who lives in Taipei. ( that ) 限定用法 I have a brother, who lives in Taipei. (不可用that) 補述用法 3.凡是---的人 例:People who trust him are fools. Those who want to please everybody please nobody.
