  2. The Periodic Table Periodic Table video- good overview video of the periodic table. It may be an older video, but contains a lot of good information about the periodic table. • http://learner.org/resources/series61.html

  3. Orbital Diagrams • For another presentation of the orbital diagram information, please see http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/High_School_Chemistry/Orbital_Configurations • Draw the orbital diagrams for the following elements: • lithium (Li) • fluorine (F) • oxygen (O) • calcium (Ca) • bromine (Br)

Electron Configurations • For another presentation of electron configurations, please see the UC Davis Chem Wiki site: http://chemwiki.ucdavis.edu/Inorganic_Chemistry/Electronic_Configurations#Rules_for_Assigning_Electron_Orbitals • Complete the problems at the bottom of the page (answers provided as well)

Useful Periodic Table Tools • http://periodictable.com/ • Interactive periodic table with pictures of all elements • Also available as an app for the iPad (“The Elements a Visual Exploration”- $13.99 on iTunes) • Nova Elements app (free from iTunes) • Also interactive, allows you to build elements, also to build molecules in “Essential Elements” • Please explore these sites/apps and determine how you could use these materials in your class • Pick a new element to explore using these resources. Try to learn something that you never knew!

  6. If time allows. . . • Separate into groups based upon area of teaching focus. Discuss the material presented and determine how you could incorporate any of the information into your classroom.
