In fact, accredited by NBA and recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University, the department offers a nurturing environment for students to engage in the intricacies of mechanical engineering. Moreover, with state-of-the-art facilities, a seasoned faculty, and a dedication to innovation, the department at KRCE prepares students to thrive in the evolving landscape of modern engineering. Highlights of the Mechanical Engineering Department at KRCE • Firstly, equipped with an Advanced Materials Testing Laboratory Facility, provides modern facilities for comprehensive material analysis. • AR/VR Lab worth 19.5 Lakhs INR, sponsored from AICTE. • NBA Accredited department. • Faculty members possess an average experience of 8.8 years, offering valuable mentorship and guidance to students. • Indeed, State-of-the-art laboratories equipped with cutting-edge technology supports practical learning. • Additionally, the utilization of Turnitin Plagiarism Software to maintain academic integrity and originality. • Furthermore, Autonomous Status granted from 2020-2021 onwards, facilitates flexible and innovative academic programs. • In addition, NAAC Accreditation with an ‘A’ grade, recognizing the department’s excellence in education. • Generally, acknowledged by the University Grants Commission with 2F and 12B Status, ensuring funding and development support. • Also, holds ISO 9001:2015 Certification for quality management and ISO 14000 Certification for environmental management. • Active participation in SAE Club activities, including competitions such as Mahindra Baja, Auto Sports Mega ATV, QBDC, SUVC, E-CART, Go-CART and EFFI CYCLE. • Noteworthy achievements, including securing the overall championship in the SUVC 2020 Event organized by RSTE and receiving the Best CAE Award for Effi-2022 organized by SAE INDIA • Received Best Aesthetics award for Global Design Challenge-2023 organized by Indian Society of New Era Engineers (ISNEE) held at Kari Motors Speedway in Coimbatore. • Thus, these highlights collectively reflect the department’s dedication to academic excellence, innovation, and holistic development, making KRCE an ideal destination for students aspiring to pursue Mechanical Engineering.

Special Highlights • The department comprises 6 Doctoral holders, with 5 members recognized as Anna University Supervisors for FT/PT Ph.D. Additionally, 9 staff members are currently pursuing Ph.D. degrees, contributing to the department’s research expertise and academic excellence. • Dr. R. Balasundaram secured “MODROBS” funding amounting to Rs. 19.50 lakhs for the establishment of an “AR/VR laboratory,” which enhances the department’s technological infrastructure and research capabilities. • Additionally, Dr. R. Balasundaram obtained “ATAL” funding of Rs. 93,000 for initiatives in Data Science and Engineering, promoting innovation and research in emerging fields. • Dr. M. Ravichandran received Rs. 7,500 sponsorships from “TNSCST” for student projects, supporting student-led research initiatives in both 2019 and 2021. • Jointly, Dr. R. Balasundaram and Dr. M. Ravichandran received funding of Rs. 30,000 under the “IEI – Student Project Scheme,” facilitating innovative student projects in mechanical engineering. • In another endeavour, Dr. Anand chairman, received Rs. 20,000 in funding from “IEI” for organizing a Green Composite Workshop, promoting sustainable practices in engineering. • Furthermore, Dr. Lenin received Rs. 30,000 in funding from “IEI” under the student project scheme, encouraging student-led research initiatives and innovation. • Mr. M. Ramesh received Rs. 20,000 for conducting an Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp for Mechanical Engineering students, fostering entrepreneurial skills and mindset. • Dr. D. Srinivasan and Dr. M. Ravichandran jointly secured Rs. 1,00,000 in funding from “IEI” for their collaborative research project, demonstrating the department’s commitment to impactful research endeavours and academic excellence. • Also, Mr. M. Manimaran, Assistant Professor, along with R. Deva and R. P. Jaanagi, undergraduate students, received Rs. 13.5 Lakhs for Smart Painting Technology under the Scheme MSME Idea Hackathon 3.0 (Women) for GoI Assistance (In-Progress).
