Student Affairs... unit on campus responsible for the out-of-classroom education of students (Miller & Winston, 1991) that address their basic personal needs (IASAS, 2001)

Institutional Challenges • Educating campus community on benefits of student organizations • Legal safety nets • Organizational support • Clarification of recognition and registration • Student representation • Requirements of an elected position
Challenges to student organization Training of officers and members Complying with institutional requirements Monitoring activities for liability and risk management • Recruitment and membership retention • Sources of funds • Audit of fiscal responsibility • Identifying campus advisers
Challenges of Club Advising • Time management • Clarifying role with student organization • Avoiding becoming too over controlling in the organization’s matters • Being aware of decisions and actions taken by the organization • Being patient in the growth and developmental processes of students
