Campus Achievements New members to our team • New tenured and transfer Faculty • Faculty positions- 9 new and replacement tenure-track faculty –Theater, Legal Asst., English, Humanities, Math, History, 2 CIT/CPA, Sound & Music Technology • Conversion of 23, 4- to 8-month positions and two new 8-month positions – Music/Band Director; Art/Gallery Director • 5 – four-month faculty • New professional and career staff hired

  4. Achievements New equipment purchased in 2012-2013 • $1,078,400 of equipment was purchased in support of instruction • Perkins $772,840 • Strategic Equipment $305,560

Achievements Facilities Improvement • Support to renovate building 1B • Borelli Architects hired to work with the Film and Sound & Music Technology faculty to create educational specifications for architects and construction bidding • Cafeteria enhancement – opened ceiling/large-screen TV • Upgraded the Anita S. Wooten Gallery with new flooring • New collaborative work space in building 2 for BITPS department • New renovations for Learning Support area including a new office for Academic Success Center Manager

Achievements Curricular Development Across the Disciplines • Accelerated STEM Algebra Path (ASAP) – calculus ready in three semesters • Refresher for Accurate Math Placement (RAMP-Up) – John Niss WP • Work to improve many low performing/high risk courses across the disciplines • Worked on Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology – Audio & Electro-Acoustic Systems Concentration with West • Pre-major in Musical Theater • Exploratory work initiated for possible bachelor’s in Converged Communication, Sign Language, Homeland Security • Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recognized Valencia as one of the largest and most successful TSA training programs in the nation • Honors East Undergraduate Research Track – 103 students & WP Jeffersonian Track 24 – first class! • Learning Support – supporting instruction

Achievements • Adrienne Trier-Bieniek, Sociology  -- Authored the book “Sing Us a Song, Piano Woman:  Female Fans and the Music of Tori Amos” – Scarecrow Press • Carin Gordon awarded Certificate of Meritorious Public Service for her work as Chair of the Florida Registered Paralegal Committee at the June 28, 2013 meeting of The Florida Bar Standing Committee on Florida Registered Paralegals and Wendy Toscano also was appointed for a 3-year term • James May was selected as one of the 50 innovators for this year's edition of the Center for Digital Education (CDE) Yearbook. He was nominated for the award by the SoftChalk Corporation. James also worked to host the TEDxValenciaCollegeLive talks June 13th • Tanya Bizon, EAP, is one of only three Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) Professor of the Year finalists – decision is Nov 13-15 at the annual conference!

Achievements Safety • Organized a Campus Safety & Security Committee of 15 faculty and staff. • All members of the Executive Team and 231 faculty and staff received SHIP/CERT training • First building (7) evacuation practice held • College hired (SAIC) consultants to review our safety and security measures and provide recommendations
